A year of travels
So far in 2007 I have traveled like crazy. The 2nd week of January was spent in the Black Forest of Germany attending my first seminary class. It was a class called Basic Theology and I had a great time with a wonderful group of friends and some amazing professors.
I came back to Belgium for about 6 days, just enough time to throw an after-finals party for the students. Unfortunately it got cut short due to some hurricane force winds that blew through Europe ripping off roofs along the way. You know, in Houston when there is a hurricane that is all you hear about for weeks prior. Over here, I haven't seen local news EVER so it just kinda hit and we dealt with it. It was quite an experience. Just really windy!!
I then loaded up for Garmish, Germany for our winter staff conference at Edelweiss. It was beautiful and after a winter of no snow, it dropped 10 inches the day before we got there and snowed the whole time. It was gorgeous. My whole goal for that trip was to spend some time catching up on some much needed rest, and I got what I wanted although not how I expected. I came down with some sort of stomach bug (along with half the resort) that took me out of the activities for a few days!!
I did feel better by the time it was my dear friend Londi's 30th birthday. She, Beth, and I got in the car and drove about an hour south into Austria for a day in Innsbruck. It was great! Kinda funny how most big cities over here start to really look alike after awhile though!
Then it was back to Belgium to kick off the second semester of Club. I got a new guy to join onto staff with me, even if it is only for 3 months. His name is Rich and he has been quite a help. Having an extra set of hands around here has been a blessing.
So we were in town for almost 3 whole weeks before we took off on our Middle School Service Project to Lwowek Slaski, Poland. It was a long bus ride, about 16 hours each way, but it was a wonderful trip for everyone involved. We all had a blast.
We just got back 2 days ago, and I have 2 whole weeks before I am off to Germany again. They keep me running around here that is for sure. I have been on a lot of trains lately because my car is broken down in the parking lot on base! But other than that, 2007 has been full of fun new adventures.
